Men’s Soccer Falls to Middle Georgia at Home

MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team fell to Middle Georgia State University 3-1 Sunday afternoon at home.
 
NOTES
• AUM fell to 2-5, while Middle Georgia improved to 7-1.  

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Sophomore Nino Bozesan scored his first goal of the 2016 season, and provided the only goal for the Warhawks on an assist from sophomore Nick Davis.
• Senior Alan Harwell finished the night with a team-high three shots.
• Sophomore William York and freshmen Simon Van Rheeden and Alexis Arriaga all tallied two shots during the match.
• Ryan Mitchell, Daniel Ward and Degamarri Matthews scored for the Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Middle Georgia scored first in the 22nd minute on a free-kick from Ward that found the bottom left of the goal to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
• Just before the half in the 42nd minute, Middle Georgia tallied its second goal of the match on a strike from Matthews.
• AUM put two shots on frame in the first half, but trailed 2-0 at the break.
• Two minutes after halftime, Bozesan scored his first goal of the season on a cross from Davis to bring the Warhawks to within one.
• Middle Georgia added its final goal of the match in the 65th minute on a cross from Ward to Mitchell. The Knights would hold the lead and take the victory 3-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 14 shots, while Middle Georgia tallied 13. The Warhawks put five shots on frame, while the Knights added six.
• AUM led Middle Georgia in corner kicks 5-0.  
• Middle Georgia picked up four saves during the match, while AUM added three.
 
UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action on Friday, Sept. 23, when they host The University of Alabama in Huntsville at 7 p.m.
