PENSACOLA Fla.– The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team concluded the road portion of its schedule with a 2-0 loss against Gulf South Conference foe West Florida Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• AUM falls to 6-11 on the season with a 5-9 record in GSC play.
• West Florida improves to 14-3-1 overall with an 11-2-1 mark in GSC play.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior keeper
Morgan Glenn stopped six shots.
• Sophomore forward
Ruby Mendez led the Warhawks in shots with four.
• West Florida keeper Katelyn Burkhart stopped one shot en route to the shutout.
• UWF junior forward Deneisha Blackwood tallied her seventh and eighth goal of the year in the winning effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• West Florida had their best chance of the first half in the 35
th minute when Blackwood took a pass from midfield and ran through the Warhawks' defense only to be denied at point-blank range by Glenn.
• UWF broke through in the 52
nd minute when Blackwood took advantage of a mistake by AUM and deposited the ball past Glenn to the left.
• Blackwood found the back of the net for the Argos again just eight minutes later when she took a pass from Shantell Thompson and beat the keeper to her left to put West Florida up 2-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with five shots, one on target. West Florida registered 20 shots with eight on target.
• The Argonauts led AUM in corner kicks 16-0.
• UWF recorded one save while the Warhawks picked up six.
STAT OF THE GAME
• The Argonauts have now shutout their opponents in six of their last seven games, including four straight to close out their regular season schedule.
