Men’s Soccer Travels To Christian Brothers And Union

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team will travel to Tennessee this weekend, taking on Gulf South Conference foes Christian Brothers University on Friday evening, before closing out the week at Union University on Sunday afternoon.

About the Warhawks
AUM comes into the contest against CBU with an overall record of 0-10, and a 0-3 mark in the GSC. The Warhawks are coming off of a 5-0 setback against Alabama in Huntsville this past Sunday at the AUM Soccer Complex.
 
Senior goalkeeper Stephen Ingram is tied for 12th in the nation for total saves in NCAA Division II, tallying 57 on the season. Vilhjalmur Runarsson leads the team in shots with 12, including nine shots on goal.
 
The Warhawks defeated Christian Brothers in their last meeting, earning a 2-1 victory in overtime. Sophomore Asher Gipner tied the game at 1-1 in the 31st minute before former Warhawk Alan Harwell scored the game winner in the 96th minute to give AUM the win.
 
AUM also defeated Union in the last contest between the two programs, also by the final of 2-1. Senior Michael Hettler scored on a free kick in the 10th minute to give the Warhawks a 1-0 advantage. Harwell put AUM up 2-0 in the 50th minute before Union's Robel Dent cut the lead in half in the 51st minute with a goal. The Warhawks were able to hold on for the victory over the Bulldogs over the next 39 minutes.
 
About the Bucs
CBU is currently second in the GSC standings with an overall record of 5-4 and a 4-1 mark in league play. The Bucs have won 5-of-6 contests and are coming off of a 3-0 victory over Delta State this past Sunday.
 
The Bucs are led offensively by Xavi Lao and Brendan Bennett, who've each tallied four goals and two assists. Lao leads the team in shots with 31 (15 on goal).
 
Viktor Hoestbo has started six games in goal for the Bucs, amassing a 5-1 record. He's recorded 25 saves on the year, with three shutouts.
 
About the Bulldogs
 
Union sits in eighth place in the GSC, with a season mark of 2-6 and a conference mark of 2-3. The Bulldogs are coming off of a 3-0 upset of #16 Mississippi College, handing the Choctaws their first loss of the season this past Sunday.
 
The Bulldogs started the season 0-6 before winning their last two contests.
 
Andre Silva leads the team in points with six, having tallied two goals and two assists. He also has recorded 30 shots (12 on goal) with one game winner to his credit. Casper Nyberg has started every game in goal for Union, with 34 saves to his credit.
 
Union will play Montevallo on Friday evening before hosting AUM on Sunday afternoon.

The Warhawks will host Lee University on Friday, Oct. 13, for their next contest, a doubleheader with the two women's programs. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the AUM Soccer Complex.
