NOTESÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
• The Warhawks improved to 3-3 on the year.
• The Badgers moved to 4-3 on the season.
• The Buccaneers dropped to 2-4.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior
Sydney Dishman launched her third homerun of the season in the second game, and currently leads the team in homeruns and RBIs with eight. She finished the day 3-for-5 with two RBIs, two walks and a run scored.
• Freshman
Jaycie Walker picked up a hit in each game of the doubleheader. She picked up her second RBI of the season in game one and added a 2-for-4 performance in game two.
• Freshman
Parker Pinholster picked up her first career double in the second game along with two stolen bases, and picked up two runs scored and an RBI against the Buccaneers.
• Junior
Kalee Sparks tallied her first career triple in game two, and added an RBI in the first game. She finished the day with two hits and two runs scored.
• Ragland picked up her second win of the season after hurling the programs first NCAA complete-game shutout, and gave up just one hit, while striking out eight.
• Jenna Charnock led the way for Spring Hill finishing 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Kylie Steagall led the way for Christian Brothers providing the only hit of the game for the Buccaneers on a double to right-center.
GAME 1 HOW IT HAPPENED
• Spring Hill got on the board first in the top of the first inning on three consecutive bunts and a wild pitch. A leadoff walk from Charnock was followed by three consecutive bunts, where she later scored, and a wild pitch plated Woodruff to give the Badgers an early 2-0 lead.
• AUM picked up its first hit of the night in the bottom of the second on a single from Hendrix, but the score remained 2-0 in favor of the Badgers heading to the third frame.
• AUM tallied its first run of the game in the bottom of the third on a Walker single to left-center that plated Persinger to make it a one run ball game, 2-1.
• After a scoreless top of the fourth, AUM tied the game 2-2 after a bases loaded walk from Sparks scored Hendrix. However, the Warhawks would be unable to score any additional runs in the inning. Â
• A scoreless fifth inning allowed Spring Hill to take back the lead 3-2 in the top of the sixth on a double from Charnock that plated Vosloh.
• AUM was held hitless in the final two frames to give Spring Hill the 3-2 victory in game one of the doubleheader.
GAME 2 HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM took the early lead in the home half of the first frame on a blast to deep left field from Dishman that also scored Pinholster to give the Warhawks a 2-0 lead.
• AUM tallied an additional run in the bottom of the second on a groundout to short from Pinholster that plated Sparks to make the score 3-0.
• A scoreless third allowed the Warhawks to plate two additional runs in the bottom of the fourth. Angulo singled through the left side to plate Sparks, and a Hendrix walk with the bases loaded allowed Angulo to score. AUM led 5-0 after four innings in the books.
• Ragland had her no-hitter broken up in the top of the fifth on a leadoff double from Steagall. However, Ragland picked up two strikeouts and a pop up to throw up a zero on the board, and maintain the 5-0 Warhawk lead.
AUM tallied its final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth on a Schmidt groundout that plated Pinholster to make the score 6-0.
• Ragland tallied one final strikeout in the top of the seventh, before a game-ending 5-4-3 double play sealed the 6-0 win for AUM over Christian Brothers, and also marked the first shutout for the program in NCAA Division II play.
UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action on Sunday, February 12, where they will host Christian Brothers University at 11 a.m., and play Spring Hill College at 4 p.m. in the AUM Tournament.
