NOTESÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
• The Warhawks fell to 0-2 on the year.
• The Rams improved to 1-0 on the season.
• The Nighthawks improved to 1-1.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Krueger was the only Warhawk to acquire a hit in both games. She finished the first game 1-for-3, and added a 1-for-3 performance with two runs scored in the nightcap.
• Junior
Amy Persinger started the 2017 season with a two-run homer in her first at-bat of the season against Mobile, and also picked up a walk.
• Junior
Christy Hendrix was the only Warhawk to tally a two-hit game against North Georgia, and also picked up her first career homerun wearing the orange and black.
• Senior
Victoria Creamer tallied a double in her lone at-bat of the day, and junior
Kalee Sparks picked up her first double of the year against Mobile.
• Holli Rowland led the way for Mobile with a 2-for-2 performance and two RBIs. Kaylyn Anthony led the way for North Georgia with a 3-for-4 showing with two homeruns, three runs scored and three RBIs.
GAME 1 HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM jumped on the board first in the top of the 1
st on a two-run blast from Persinger that also scored Pinholster.
• Mobile picked up a run on two hits in the bottom of second on two hits to bring the game to within one. Rowland doubled to right center, which plated Huggins.
• After a scoreless third, Mobile tallied an additional run in the bottom of the fourth on a groundout from Rowland that plated Lewis to tie the game at two.
• Neither team was able to plate a run in the fifth or sixth, but each team did acquire a hit over the two inning span. Â
• Mobile tallied their final run in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch after three hits and an error to take the 3-2 walk-off victory.
GAME 2 HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a hitless first inning, AUM once again got on the board first in the bottom of the second on a solo shot from Hendrix, and an error allowed Krueger to score to put the Warhawks up 2-0.
• North Georgia responded immediately in the top of the third to tie the game at two on a double froum Hartness that plated Gilliam, and a solo shot from Anthony that led off the inning.
• North Georgia scored in every inning after, and led 10-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh.
• However, AUM showed resilience in the final frame by picking up two additional runs on two hits. A Nieves groundout scored Krueger, and some crafty base running allowed Dishman to score before the final out was recorded.
• North Georgia took the victory 10-4 in the nightcap.
UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action on Saturday, February 4, where they will continue action in Gulf shores to face No. 13 Valdosta State at 3 p.m. and finish with Mississippi College at 5:30 p.m.
