Men’s Soccer Heads To Clayton State On Wednesday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team will travel to Morrow, Ga., on Wednesday evening to take on Clayton State out of the Peach Belt Conference in a match set to begin at 7 p.m.

About the Warhawks
The game against the Lakers will be the final non-Gulf South Conference contest of the season for the Warhawks, who are currently 0-7 on the season. AUM is coming off of 3-0 setback to GSC rival Montevallo on Sunday afternoon. The Warhawks and Falcons battled to a 0-0 tie at halftime before Montevallo was able to score three unanswered goals in the second.
 
The Warhawks have been outscored 26-1 this season, with AUM's lone goal this year coming against Davenport on Sept. 8. AUM is also being outshot 148-39 and opponents have taken 50 corners to just 16 for the Warhawks.
 
Sophomore Alexis Arriaga leads the team with one goal, and is tied for the team lead in shots with four. Simon Van Rheeden and William York also have four shots on the year.
 
Senior Stephen Ingram has started all five games for the Warhawks, tallying 39 saves on the season. The 39 saves by Ingram ranks first amongst keepers in the Gulf South.
 
About the Lakers
The Lakers are currently 3-4 on the season, with a 2-1 mark at home. CSU has dropped two in a row, falling on the road at PBC foe Lander, 2-0, and dropping a home non-conference match to Limestone, 3-0.
 
Sophomore Dean Foster leads the team in points on the year, tallying four goals and one assist this season. Teammate Kwaku Dwamena also has four goals on the year, while Tom Mitchinson leads the team in assists with four.
 
Oliver Pannell (2-4) and Leuri Fraire (1-0) have split time at goalkeeper, with Pannell receiving more of the time in net.
 
This will be the second Gulf South opponent for the Lakers this season, having already bested Montevallo 3-0 on Sept. 7.
 
Up Next
The Warhawks will host GSC foe West Alabama on Friday at the AUM Soccer Complex. The two teams met earlier this season in a non-conference game, a game that saw the Tigers earn a 5-0 decision over the Warhawks. Friday's game is also a doubleheader with the women's programs of both schools, with game time for the men set for 5 p.m. and the women set for 7:30 p.m.
