Men’s Soccer Welcomes UWA And UAH To Campus This Weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team will host Gulf South Conference opponents West Alabama and Alabama in Huntsville, on Friday and Sunday respectively, at the AUM Soccer Complex.

About the Warhawks
AUM comes into the contest against West Alabama with an overall record of 0-8, with a 0-1 mark in league play. The Warhawks dropped a 5-1 decision to Clayton State on Wednesday evening on the road, the last non-conference match of the season for AUM.
 
Sophomore Simon Van Rheeden scored AUM's second goal of the season against the Lakers on Wednesday, blasting a volley off of a Vilhjalmur Runarsson corner kick to put the Warhawks on the board. AUM took a season-high 15 shots against the Lakers, with eight shots on goal.
 
Senior goalkeeper Stephen Ingram has tallied 48 saves on the year, which leads the Gulf South and is tied for seventh nationally in the category.
 
This will be the second contest between the Warhawks and the Tigers, with UWA earning a 5-0 decision on Sept. 22 in a non-conference game.
 
About the Tigers
West Alabama is currently 5-2 on the season, with a 1-1 mark in league play. The Tigers are coming off of a 2-1 victory over USC Aiken out of the Peach Belt Conference on Monday evening.
 
Senior Ali Brador leads the team in points with nine on the year, tallying four goals and one assist. Teammates Gaspard Voituriez-Donnelly and Jean-Baptiste Meyniel each have six points, with Voituriez-Donnelly recording two goals and two assists while Meyniel has scored one goal and tallied four assists.
 
As a team the Tigers have outscored opponents 13-9, while also holding a 92-67 shot advantage.
 
About the Chargers
 
UAH is currently 3-4 overall this year, and is 2-0 in Gulf South matches. The Chargers will play GSC foe Montevallo on Friday before traveling to Montgomery for Sunday's match. UAH is coming off of a 4-0 setback to Carson-Newman at home on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Corentin Diverres has amassed five points on the season, leading all Chargers. Diverres has scored two goals and recorded one assist this season. Senior Jordan Wright has also scored a pair of goals for the Chargers while leading the team in shots with 14.
 
Opponents have outscored UAH 16-8 this season, out-shooting the Chargers 90-65.
 
Sunday's match will also mark the Chargers second trip to Montgomery this season, having taken part in the 2017 Capital City Classic host by AUM earlier this month. UAH earned a 2-1 victory over then No. 20 Florida Tech on Sept. 8, before suffering a 3-1 setback to Davenport on Sept. 10 to close out the weekend.
