Women’s Soccer Falls on The Road at Young Harris, 2-0

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. ----- The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team fell on the road at Young Harris College 2-0 Sunday.
 
NOTES
• AUM fell to 1-1 on the year, while Young Harris improved to 1-1.  

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Melissa Fernandez finished with four shots and was able to put three on frame.
Fabiana Alborghetti tied for a team-high with four shots.
Felicia Wester fell to 1-1 on the season in goal, stopping five shots and allowing both goals.
• Emily Ober registered her first goal of the season for the Mountain Lions.  
• Eduarda Chagas scored a goal on her only shot of the game.
• Nicole Medeiros tallied six saves for Young Harris in the shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first 25 minutes of the match offered back-and-forth action, but neither side could get quality chances, as the teams combined for only five shots.
• The first half ended in a 0-0 tie, with the Warhawks registering two shots on goal and the Mountain Lions finishing with three shots on target.
• The Mountain Lions took the lead in the 54th minute when Ober took advantage of a Warhawk turnover five yards in front of the box and ripped it into the right corner for her first goal of the year.
• Young Harris clinched the win when Chagas capitalized off a rebound in the 83rd minute to provide the final margin.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 13 shots, six of which were put on target. The Mountain Lions finished the game with 12 shots, including seven on frame.
• The Warhawks led Young Harris in corner kicks 5-4.  
• YHC recorded six saves, while AUM picked up five.

STAT OF THE GAME
• Medeiros saved all six shots that came her way in the clean sheet.

• The Warhawks will open Gulf South Conference on Friday, Sept. 8, when they travel to Pensacola, Fla. to face the University of West Florida at 7:30 pm.
