MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery softball team split a twin bill with Gulf South Conference opponent the University of Montevallo on Friday afternoon, as the Falcons rallied late to earn a 4-3 victory in game one while AUM scored early and often to take game two 6-0.
NOTES
• AUM moves to 17-11 on the year with a 10-10 mark in the GSC.
• UM moves to 23-9 overall and 12-8 in league play.
• The Warhawks are now 2-3 lifetime against the Falcons.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Freshman infielder
Hannah Dailey went 4-for-6 on the day, with two runs batted in, two runs scored, a home run, a double and a stolen base.
• Senior outfielder
Kalee Sparks went 3-for-7 with a RBI, a double and a runs scored.
• Sophomore hurler
Chanel Newcomer tossed a two-hit shutout in game two, improving to 10-4 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
• With runners at second and third in the bottom of the first Montevallo's Haley Barnette singled through the right side to plate a pair of runners and give the Falcons a 2-0 advantage.
• AUM would answer in the top of the third, when Dailey blasted a two-run shot to left that plated
Jaycie Walker from second.

Amy Persinger drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the sixth to give the Warhawks their first lead of the day, as AUM went to the bottom of the frame with a 3-2 advantage.
• UM would rally for two runs in the bottom of the sixth, scoring on a single and a sacrifice fly to go up 4-3.
• The Warhawks would get the tying run in the form of Dailey to third base with one out in the top of the seventh, but AUM could not get her home as the Falcons earned the win.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME ONE
• AUM scored three runs on five hits with no errors.
• UM scored four runs on six hits with one error.

Natalie Johnsey (2-6) was credited with the loss for AUM, allowing four runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work.
• UM's Mychael McMillan (8-0) got the win in relief allowing one run in one inning of work. Abbey Pratt earned her fourth save of the season giving up only one hit in the seventh.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
• The Warhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, beginning with Sparks hitting a double to right to score Dailey from second. Then
Parker Pinholster reached base after a wild pitch on a strikeout followed by a UM error that allowed Sparks to score from second. Pinholster would then scored on a failed pickoff attempt to give AUM a 3-0 lead.
• Walker would hit her second home run of the season in the top of the fifth, plating
Kendall Tucker who led off the inning with a double to give AUM a 5-0 advantage.
• AUM would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh when
Jasmine Thompson scored on a throwing error to put the Warhawks up by six runs.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME TWO
• AUM scored six runs on nine hits with two errors.
• UM was held scoreless on two hits while committing four errors.
• Newcomer (10-4) allowed only two base runners in the contest, not giving a walk or a hit by pitch over seven innings.
• Alexis Bonanno fell to 7-6 on the season, allowing three runs on two hits with five strikeouts in two innings of work.

The Warhawks will close out their three-game series with the Falcons tomorrow at Orr Park beginning at 12 p.m.
