MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team will open the 2018 season with a home match against Clayton State University out of the Peach Belt Conference on Thursday evening, with game time set for 4:30 p.m. at the AUM Soccer Complex.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks were picked to finish 10th in the Gulf South Conference preseason poll, with freshmen
Mayson Jaindl and
Peyton Poe being named the top newcomers for AUM. The Orange & Black open 2018 with four consecutive home matches beginning with CSU, followed by Wingate University out of the South Atlantic Conference on Sept. 3 before taking on GSC foes Valdosta State and West Georgia on Sept. 14 and 16, respectively.
AUM went 7-11 overall on the season last year with a 4-5 record at home. The Warhawks return their top goal scorer in junior forward
Ruby Mendez, who tallied 12 goals and five assists in 2017. AUM also returns top goalkeeper
Felicia Wester who tallied 71 saves, earning a 5-6 record for the year.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
About the Lakers
CSU went 5-10 in 2017 with a 3-4 mark in road games. This season the Lakers are picked to finish eight in the PBC preseason coaches poll, finishing ahead of USC Aiken, Francis Marion and Georgia Southwestern. Top goal scorer Ann-Cathrin Zabel returns for the Lakers, who return four players that scored three or more goals last season.
