Men’s Soccer Travels to Spring Hill and #6 West Florida for Conference Weekend Set

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team will take to the road this weekend for a crucial two-match stretch, starting with a 3:30 p.m. match at Spring Hill on Friday, Oct 4 and ending with a 12:00 p.m. contest at #6 West Florida on Sunday, Oct. 6.

ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (4-3, 1-0 GSC) heads into the weekend winners of their last four matches, including a 2-0 win over Clayton State at home their last time out on Sept. 28. Junior striker Thomas Carlile had the hot foot in the win, notching both of the Warhawks goals.
 
The Warhawks checked in at number eight in the most recent south regional rankings compiled by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday, Oct. 1, marking for the first time as a member of D-II that the Orange and Black received recognition in a weekly poll. 
 
Through seven matches the Warhawks rank fourth in the GSC with 93 shots taken, 43 shots on goal and 13.29 shots per game. AUM currently leads the conference with 49 corner kicks taken and an average of seven corners per game.
 
Carlile currently leads the Warhawks, while ranking sixth in the GSC, with 10 points accumulated and four goals scored. Carlile and sophomore midfielder Renan Diniz both rank second in the conference with a pair of game-winning goals each.  
 
Sophomore midfielder Phillip Spickenbaum leads the Orange and Black with three assists, a number that also ranks him tied for third among all GSC players. Carlile has also accounted for a pair of assists on the season.
 
The Warhawk backline has put up two consecutive clean sheets, while allowing just three shots on goal over their last two matches. Goalkeeper Alexander Kraus (4-1) currently sits fourth in the conference with a 0.78 goals against average, while leading an AUM defense that has not surrendered a goal in their last 244 minutes of action. 
 
The Warhawks bring an all-time record of 17-3-3 against Spring Hill, and a mark of 7-7 in their series history with West Florida. 
 
ABOUT THE BADGERS
Spring Hill College (2-4, 0-2 GSC) comes into their contest with AUM having dropped their last three matches, including a pair of conference losses at Union on Sept. 27 and at Christian Brothers on Sept. 29. 
 
The Badgers have netted nine goals over six matches, for an average of 1.50 per contest. Alex Lipinski leads the way offensively for Spring Hill, with a team-high three goals, two assists and eight points.
 
Spring Hill has allowed 12 goals in 24 matches, for an average of two given up per contest. Alessandro Erdelyi and Barou Ndaw have both seen significant time in net for the Badgers, with Erdelyi leading the team with 21 saves and a 1.94 goals against average. 
 
ABOUT THE ARGONAUTS
West Florida (6-0, 2-0 GSC) has won all six of their matches so far in 2019, including road conference wins over Christian Brothers on Sept. 27 and Union on Sept. 29 their last two times out. The Argos checked in at number six in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Division II National Rankings, while coming in at number one in the most current south regional rankings. 
 
West Florida is led by a stout defense that has surrendered just three goals all season and pitched three shutouts. Goalkeeper Jihad Gomes leads the GSC with a 0.48 goals against average and sits third in the conference with an 82-percent save efficiency. 
 
On offense, Sean Hoffstatter leads the Argos with four goals scored and eight points accounted for. Davi Alves leads the team with three assists, while Andrew Wentz has registered one goal and two assists and Ed Chappe has recorded two goals and one assist. 
 
Prior to their meeting with the Warhawks, the Argos will host the University of Montevallo in GSC action on Friday, Oct. 4 at 5:00 p.m.
