ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (0-2) heads into the weekend seeking their first victory of the 2019 season, after falling 2-0 to #10 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, Sept. 7 and 1-0 to Webber International on Monday, Sept. 9.
The Warhawks outshot Webber International 19-10 and took 18 corner kicks in their contest on Monday, but a 57th-minute goal from the Warriors proved to be the difference maker in the contest.
Through two matches, junior defender
Alexander Wagner stands alone as the only Warhawk to have played in all 180 minutes. A total of 14 newcomers have made their debut for the Orange and black, including shots-taken leader
Thomas Carlile and shots on goal leader
Renan Diniz.
In goal, sophomore
Alexander Kraus and junior
Braedan Passalis have split time between the posts. Passalis leads AUM and ranks third in the Gulf South Conference with six saves, while posting a 1.00 goals against average.
The Warhawks will look to snap a five-match losing skid to Florida Tech, highlighted by losses in each of the last two seasons to the Panthers. AUM holds an all-time record of 1-0 against Florida Southern, with a 5-1 win in their lone meeting during the 1992 season.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Florida Tech (1-0) knocked off first-year NCAA D-II members Davenport University 4-1 in their home opener on Friday, Sept. 6. The Panthers were scheduled to play Wingate University on Friday, Sept. 5 and Chowan University on Sunday, Sept. 7, but the threat of inclement weather from Hurricane Dorian forced both matches to be canceled.
Soloman Wheatly leads the charge on offense for the Panthers with four points courtesy of two goals. Per Henrik Nag, the team's leading scorer from 2018, leads FIT with two assists distributed in 2019.
Jason Fesquet played all 90 minutes in goal for the Panthers in their win over Davenport, while picking up two saves.
ABOUT THE MOCS
Florida Southern College (0-1-1) heads into their matchup with AUM coming off of a 4-2 loss to #20 ranked Spring Hill College on Sunday, Sept. 8. The Mocs played to a 0-0 draw at Montevallo to open up the season on Friday, Sept. 6.
Christoph Gums and Julian Jordan-Canosa both lead the way for FSC with one goal apiece, while Martin Wall leads the squad with one assist. Goalkeeper Philip Faderl has seen all 200 minutes of action in net for the Mocs, while posting a GAA of 1.80 and collecting seven saves.
Prior to their contest with AUM, the Mocs will play their home opener against Limestone College on Friday Sept. 13.
