MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team will play host to Georgia Southwestern State on Wednesday, Sept. 18 and travel to Jackson, Tenn. to take on Union University in their Gulf South Conference opener on Sunday, Sept. 22.

ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (1-3) knocked off Florida Southern 2-1 their last time out in Melbourne, Fla. on Sunday, Sept. 15 for their first victory as a full-fledged member of NCAA Division II. The win also served as the first win under Head Coach
Matthew Thorne.
Newcomers
Lucas Batistela and
Renan Diniz both logged a goal in the historic victory, while
Phillip Spickenbaum and
Thomas Carlile both were credited with assists in the match. Sophomore
Alexander Kraus upped his 2019 record to 1-1 while recording five crucial saves for the Warhawks in net to help preserve the win.
Through four matches,
Alexander Wagner, Batistela and Dininz have all scored one goal apiece. Spickenbaum leads the Warhawks, and ranks tied for third in the GSC, with two assists on the season.
The Warhawks have taken 27 corner kicks through four matches, a mark which leads all GSC schools. Their 6.75 corner kicks per game currently ranks third in the Gulf South.
Keepers
Braedan Passalis and Kraus have both played in two matches for the Warhawks in 2019. Passalis ranks third in the GSC with 10 saves, and second in the conference with a five saves-per-game average, while Kraus ranks among the top 10 GSC keepers with a 1.50 goals against average.
The Warhawks hold a 3-0 series advantage over Georgia Southwestern, outscoring the Hurricanes 24-0 over the course of their previous three meetings. Wednesday will be the first contest between the two programs since 2005.
Sunday's matchup at Union will also be the fourth meeting between the two schools, with AUM trailing the Bulldogs 1-2 in their series history. Union has won the last two meetings, including a 5-1 win in Montgomery in 2018.
ABOUT THE HURRICANES
Georgia Southwestern (1-2) heads into their matchup with AUM having lost their last two contests, including a 2-0 loss to Faulkner University their last time out on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Hurricanes have netted four goals in three games, for a mark of 1.33 goals per contest on the year.
Bryan Zuniga leads the Hurricane attack in virtually every offensive category in 2019, with two goals, five points, one assist, 12 shots and six shots on goal. Sean McKeevar and Divin Moke have both also logged a goal for Georgia Southwestern.
On the other side of the ball, the Hurricanes have given up six goals in four matches, for a 1.92 goals against average. Keeper Oneil Lewis currently leads the Peach Belt Conference with 22 saves.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Union (2-1) comes into the week winners of two of their first three matches in 2019, including a 5-1 win at Drury University in their most recent work on Sunday, Sept. 14.
The Bulldogs bring a high-powered offense into their matchup with AUM on Sunday, having netted 11 goals through three contests, which ranks second among GSC teams. Three different Bulldogs have scored multiple goals, including Gavin Scott, who ranks second in the conference with four goals scored and 10 points accumulated.
Union also ranks second in the GSC in assists distributed, with nine so far on the year. William Valencia currently ranks second in the GSC with three assists on the season, while Scott ranks tied for third with two.
The Bulldogs have allowed eight goals through three games, for a team goals against average of 2.67. Euan Morton has seen the bulk of action in net, with two saves and a record of 1-1 in 180 minutes between the posts for Union.
