Warhawks Slug Their Way to Doubleheader Sweep, Seventh-Straight Win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – With 26 runs under their belt, the Auburn University at Montgomery softball team clobbered the Kentucky State Thorobreds 16-0 and 10-0 in a doubleheader sweep on Monday afternoon.

NOTES
- AUM wins its 17th game of the year.
- The Warhawks improve their home record to 7-3.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS GAME 1
- Molly Cobb drove in three runs and scored twice.
- Kendall Tucker knocked in a team-high four runs in the win.
- Kasidy Thompson was the third player to knock in multiple runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Warhawks, once again, were ready to play in the first inning. After a 1-2-3 top of the first, the Orange & Black exploded for nine runs in the bottom half. With the bases loaded, Kentucky State hit Allie Miller with a pitch, then walked the next batter to give AUM a quick 2-0 lead.
- With the Warhawks up by five in the first, Thompson raced a ball into the left-centerfield gap to score Morgan Duschell, propelling the Warhawks to a 6-0 lead. The scoring in the first ended with a fielder's choice from Cobb that scored Aycock.
- The Orange & Black were able to strike again for one run in the bottom of the second when Tucker drove in Miller with a single up the middle, securing a substantial 10-0 lead over the Thorobreds.
- With the bases loaded in the third inning, Cobb was able to send two runners home to score on a ball marked for the left field line. The Warhawks found themselves up 12-0 once Maddie Parks and Gracie Harris came around to score on the double.
- Gracie Poe joined in on the fun later in the inning, knocking home Caroline Burns to run the score to 15-0. After a double from Tucker, the scoring for the day ended with an RBI to solidify the 16-0 win for AUM.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE GAME 1
- AUM netted four extra-base hits.
- The Warhawks stole four bases in game one.
- Both teams left four runners on base.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS GAME 2
- Jaycie Walker tattooed two balls over the right field wall.
- Cydney Sizemore spun four scoreless innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- Walker came up to bat with no one on base, however that did not discourage the senior slugger from launching a ball over the right field batting cages and scoring the team's first run on a solo blast.
- In the bottom of the second, the Warhawks would score four runs without recording a hit. Thanks to three sacrifice bunts that resulted in the Warhawk batters reaching base, AUM was able to extend their lead to 5-0 after two innings of play.
- Tucker was the center of attention in the bottom of the third for the Warhawks, scoring Miller on an RBI triple to kick things off. Burns was able to execute a perfect sacrifice bunt on the following play to score Tucker, giving the Orange & Black a 7-0 lead.
- The fireworks concluded in the fourth inning of game two with a majestic two-run homer off the bat of Walker to secure her fourth big fly of the year. Harris was also able to drive in a run on an RBI single to give AUM their 10-0 victory.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE GAME 2
- Four errors were committed in the game, all belonging to Kentucky State.
- Sizemore and Newcomer combined to strikeout eight Thorobreds.
