Goals Galore Give Warhawks 6-0 Win Over Spring Hill College

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team punched in four first-half goals and a pair of scores in the second to cruise their way to a 6-0 Gulf South Conference win over Spring Hill College on Sunday, Oct. 10.
 
The win improves AUM's record to 4-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 in in GSC play. The victory also bolsters AUM's all-time record against the Badgers to 12-3-1.
 
The Warhawks' six goals marks for the most scored in a game in the division II era, and the most goals in a game since a 7-1 win at Brewton Parker on Oct. 3 of the 2015 season.
 
Sydney Garth and Mayson Jaindl each scored a pair of goals, marking for the first time two Warhawks have recorded braces in a game since a 4-2 win at Delta State on Oct. 20 of the 2017 season. Garth also added an assist.
 
Michaelyn Manning accounted for a game-high two assists, while Anila Mantello cashed in on a penalty kick and Milian Mollison logged a goal and an assist.
 
The Warhawks wasted no time getting on the board in this one, with Jaindl delivering the first of her two goals in minute number four.
 
Mantello doubled AUM's lead to 2-0 in minute 24 on a successful PK, followed by Jaindl's second score in minute number 36.The Warhawks would get their final goal of the half in the final minute, courtesy of Garth's first score of the day.
 
AUM kept their foot on the gas in the second half, delivering their first of two strikes in minute number 56 from Garth. The Warhawks got their final goal of the day in minute number 89, courtesy of Mollison.
 
The Warhawks outshot Spring Hill 15-7 on the day, with AUM putting seven shots in goal and holding the Badgers to just three shots on frame.
 
AUM took a season-high six corner kicks in the victory while giving up just a pair to the Badgers.
 
In goal, Karla Gaytan (4-5-0) stopped three shots on the way to picking up her second career shutout for AUM.
 
The women's soccer team will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 15 when they take to the road to face West Alabama. Kickoff from Livingston, Ala. is set for 5:00 p.m.
