MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery Men's Soccer Team closed out its 2021 regular-season slate with a 1-0 loss in overtime to the no. 13 ranked Montevallo Falcons on Thursday, Nov. 4.
The Falcons goal came with just three seconds left in overtime period number one, after a Falcon free kick rattled around and found the foot of Mario Gratzl for the game-winning strike.

Phillip Spickenbaum,
Nathaniel Grant,
Glenn Waters,
Luke Wheeldon,
Cooper Howard,
Lucas Batistela, and
Alexander Kraus were recognized as a part of "Senior Night."
With the loss, AUM finishes out the regular season with a record of 9-4-2 overall and 7-2-2 in Gulf South Conference play.
AUM outshot Montevallo 11-8 on the night, with eight shots in the first period and three in the second.
Charlie Elliott and
Glenn Waters both took three shots on the night, with Waters accounting for AUM's lone shot on goal.
In goal, Alex Kraus grabbed one save on the way to seeing his 2021 record fall to 9-3-1 on the season.
"I'm very proud of the lads, they put it all on the line tonight and throughout the season," Head Coach
Matthew Thorne said. "It's very hard to lose a game like we did tonight, but that's how college soccer works. Credit goes to Montevallo. It's a new season now with the postseason tournament starting this weekend though. We will dust ourselves off and get ready to go Sunday."
The men's soccer team will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 7 when they host West Alabama in the quarterfinal round of the GSC Championship at 1:00 p.m. from the AUM Soccer Complex.
