MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team dropped a tightly-contested 1-0 Gulf South Conference contest to the Lady Statesmen of Delta State University on Sunday, Sept. 19.
With the loss, AUM's record falls to 2-3 on the year and 0-2 in GSC play.
Wet and muddy conditions from rain and lingering water from previous days turned the contest into a defensive stalemate, with Delta State logging the game's lone goal in minute number 79.
Delta State outshot AUM 17-5 on the day, with the Lady Statesmen recording eight shots on goal to the Warhawks' pair.
McKenzie Nowin accounted for both of the Warhawks' shots on goal while
Mayson Jaindl,
Sydney Garth, and
Ariel Jones each took a shot in the contest.
In goal,
Karla Gaytan (2-3-0) totaled seven saves on the afternoon, adding to her conference-best season total of 42.
The women's soccer team will return to action on Friday, Sept. 24 when they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to take on Union University for the first of two weekend games in The Volunteer State. Kickoff against the Lady Bulldogs is set for 5:00 p.m. (CST).
