MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer team is set to open the 2022 Gulf South Conference tournament on Sunday, Oct. 30 against a very familiar foe.
The Warhawks, 7-5-3 overall and 6-3-2 in conference play, travel to Montevallo, Ala. to take on the University of Montevallo at 6 p.m. at the Varsity Soccer Field.Â
AUM is fresh off a 2-1 win over the Falcons on the final day of the regular season, as an own goal by Montevallo and a penalty kick goal from Logan Roach helped the Black and Orange secure a three-game winning streak heading into the tournament.Â

ALL-GSC WARHAWKS
- Phillip Spickenbaum, Jamos Hauk, and Charlie Elliott each earned a Second Team All-GSC spot for AUM. Spickenbaum and Hauk made a return trip to the ranks of All-GSC, while Elliott earned his first All-GSC nod.Â
- Spickenbaum, a Second Team All-GSC selection for the second consecutive season, is tied for the team lead in goals with five. Four of those goals came in conference action, which tied for fifth in the regular year.
- Hauk joins Spickenbaum as a back-to-back Second Team All-GSC selection. He is the team leader in minutes played this season with 1,338 and owns a pair of game-winning goals, delivering three points for the Warhawks against Union and Spring Hill.
- Elliott cracks the list for the Warhawks for the first time in his career. Earning Second Team All-GSC honors as a defender, Elliott is one of only five players on the team to log over 1,000 minutes, and also totaled six points with two goals and two assists.Â
WARHAWKS IN THE POLLS
- AUM is currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.
- The Warhawks find themselves up to the No. 5 spot in the United Soccer Coaches' South Region Poll.
FIVE ON THE FALCONS
- Montevallo is 8-4-3 overall and 7-4 in GSC play as they earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and the right to host the Warhawks for the second straight week.
- The Falcons rank third in the GSC in scoring at 2.0 goals per match and are fourth best in goals-against average at 1.07 per contest.Â
- Montevallo earned five spots on the recently named All-GSC teams, with Edin Hernandez and Edorta Cabieces Sanz taking home First Team All-GSC honors. Narcis Bou Dalmau, Simon Wittman, and Martin, Chladek each earned a Second Team spot.
- Sanz paces the squad with 17 points, including seven goals and three assists. Dalmau is also a double-digit point Falcon, with five goals and four assists for a total of 14 points in the regular season.
- Eight different payers have logged over 1,000 minutes played this season for head coach Bruce Dietterle's team.
