HIGHLIGHTS

  • AUM controlled the game early, scoring less than five minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 advantage.
  • Landon Surratt took a throw-in on the home sideline and launched it into the corner of the six-yard box, where Charlie Elliott was waiting to head the ball into the back of the net.
  • The Chargers turned in five first-half shots, but just one save was needed by AUM's Alexander Kraus as only one of those shots was on frame.
  • Up 1-0 at the halftime intermission, the game played mostly back-and-forth for the next 30 minutes out of the break as both sides fought to find another goal.
  • It was the visitors who were able to break through in the 78th minute when Colby Nesbit's throw-in was finished by Henry Mpagi Jr. to equalize.
  • A frantic final minute saw both teams try to find a winning score before each team earned a point with a 1-1 draw.

STATS OF THE GAME

  • Elliott's goal marked his second of the season, both on headers.
  • Surratt's four assists are tied for fourth overall in the league and also rank second among all players in Gulf South Conference fixtures.
WORDS FROM THE WARHAWKS

"We started the game really well," said head coach Matthew Thorne. "We led the game for the majority of the 90 minutes, but unfortunately it has happened a lot this season where we lose the lead late in the match. We had moments to go up 2-0 in the game, but we were not able to take those chances. Overall, another good battle in the GSC and we turn the page to go again next Friday night for Senior Night!"
