Softball Falls Twice at West Alabama in GSC Doubleheader

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team dropped two Gulf South Conference games at the University of West Alabama on Saturday by final scores of 10-9 and 7-2 at the UWA Softball Complex.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 1)
  • UWA struck first in game one with a solo homer to left field in the bottom of the first. 
  • Rebecca Komers hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second and Olivia Aycock hit a RBI triple that scored Lexie Bullock to put AUM up 3-1. 
  • Aycock delivered again in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Bullock. 
  • Chloe Baynes and Allie Miller both delivered singles with Baynes bringing in two runs and Miller's scoring one run to give the Warhawks a 7-1 lead. 
  • West Alabama rallied in the sixth and seventh inning scoring six unanswered runs to take the game into extra innings. 
  • AUM's Kat Fallen knocked a single and scored Molly Cobb and Allie Miller to go up 9-7. 
  • UWA rallied again in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI single and a bases loaded walk-off double to win the game 10-9.  
ON THE MOUND (GM 1)
  • Morgan Ferguson (3-3) got the nod and worked five innings and allowed five runs on seven hits. She struck four batters out. 
  • Sydni Free went two innings and gave up three runs on two hits.
  • Brinkley Yevak came in the top of the eighth inning and allowed two runs. 
HIGHLIGHTS (GM 2)
  • Fallen struck first in the second game with a with a sacrifice bunt that scored Miller as a unearned run. 
  • UWA plated three runs in the first inning with a RBI single and a two run shot to left-center field. UWA hit another homer in the third inning to make it 4-1. 
  • The Tigers registered the fifth run of the game off a fielder's choice that scored Hannah Mynyard to push the lead to 5-1. 
  • UWA's Emily Cowart swung a two-run homer to left field to give them a 7-1 lead. 
  • Aycock tallied a RBI single in the top of the seventh and scored Komers, but the Tigers won 7-2.  
ON THE MOUND (GM 2)
  •  Avery Dickerson (3-2) worked six innings and gave up seven runs on six hits. She picked up six strike outs on the day.
UP NEXT

The Warhawks return to the UWA Softball Complex on Sunday, February 26 to wrap up the three-game series with first pitch coming at 1 p.m.
