CLINTON, Miss. -- Auburn University at Montgomery and No. 21 Mississippi College softball teams split the doubleheader of the Gulf South Conference series at the MC Softball Complex Saturday afternoon. The Choctaws took game one 12-11 and the Warhawks earned the 13-1 victory in game two.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 1)
- Kat Fallen started the scoring for both teams in the first inning with an infield single that scored Allie Miller.
- MC tied it up with a sacrifice fly in the third inning.
- AUM took a 4-1 lead in the fourh inning, however the Choctaws retook the lead with a three-run homer.
- The Warhawks scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-5 lead.
- Mississippi College's Shelby Samples hit a solo homer and Fallen got her own home run in the top of the sixth.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, MC's Samples knocked a RBI single and Jordan Moore scored a unearned run to to take a 7-8 lead heading into the seventh frame.
- Molly Cobb shattered a two run homer and Chloe Derrick got a solo homer to push the Warhawks in front 11-9.
- Mississippi College's Moore batted in two runs off a single and then Kamryn Eaton hit a walkoff single that scored Jordan Lafosse for the win.
IN THE CIRCLE (GM 1)
- Morgan Ferguson tossed 6.1 innings and allowed 12 runs with 10 being earned on 10 hits. She struck two batters out and walked three.
- Sydni Free (L, 5-5) suffered the loss pitching the final .1 innings and gave up two hits.
HIGHLIGHTS (GM 2)
- Auburn Montgomery struck first with Lexi Love tallying a RBI double to center field that scored Olivia Aycock to give AUM a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
- Chloe Baynes, Miller, Cobb, and Fallen all registered singles that scored one run to push the lead to 5-0.
- Gia Martin knocked a ball out of the park that plated Derrick to close the second inning and allow AUM to have a commanding 9-0 lead.
- Fallen scored two runs in the third inning with a sac fly that allowed Miller and Baynes to cross home plate and extend the Warhawk lead to 11-0.
- Miller and Cobb batted in runs during the fifth frame that stretched the Auburn Montgomery lead to 13-0.
- MC scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth when Samples scored on a fielder's choice.
IN THE CIRCLE (GM 2)
- Avery Dickerson (W, 9-2) got the win after pitching the complete five-inning game and giving up just one run on three hits. She struck two batters out.
NOTABLES
- Aycock has now shattered the AUM records for most career hits and most runs scored. She has 219 hits and 178 runs as a Warhawk.
- AUM tallied five home runs on the day and the two teams combined for seven.
- Miller extended her streak of reaching base to 19 games.
- Fallen is on a hitting streak of eight games after going 5-for-8 in the doubleheader.
