Softball Takes Two From Georgia Southwestern State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team swept a doubleheader from Georgia Southwestern State University on Tuesday afternoon at the AUM Softball Complex by final scores of 12-5 and 14-8.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Kat Fallen grounded out and brought home Chloe Baynes for AUM to tack on the first run in the top of the first inning. 
  • The Warhawks added a pair of runs in the second inning ans Lexi Love and Lexie Bullock posted RBIs to go up 3-0. 
  • GSW added a run in the top of the third, but the Warhawks got it back quickly with Kat Fallen scoring Haley Ann Frank to make it 4-1. 
  • The Hurricanes scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to make it 4-3. 
  • AUM had a five-spot in the fifth frame with Chloe Derrick, Frank, Tori Lambert, and Fallen earning RBIs. 
  • GSW's Lecy Rutledge hit a two run homer in the sixth inning to make it 9-5. 
  • Molly Cobb singled through the left side in the sixth inning and scored Frank and later Fallen scored Cobb to make it 12-5. 
IN THE CIRCLE
  • Morgan Ferguson got the start and worked 3.2 innings and allowed three runs on one hit. She walked five batters and struck one out. 
  • Chelisa Newsome (W, 1-0) earned the win in relief allowing two runs on five hits. She struck one out and walked one batter.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Hurricanes took a quick 1-0 lead in top of the first inning on a RBI single. 
  • A bases loaded walk brought Baynes home to even the score at 1-1 in the bottom half of the first frame. 
  • In the third inning, GSW regained the lead on a RBI bunt single. 
  • The lead did not last long as AUM tacked on five runs in the bottom of the third inning with Faith Wheat, Margaret Morgan, Baynes, and Whitney Wells bringing home runs. 
  • Wheat posted her third and fourth run batted in of the game to make it 8-2 in the next inning. 
  • GSW tied the game up at 8-8 in the fifth frame with six runs scored. 
  • AUM added six runs in the final two innings, highlighted by Kat Fallen delivering a two-RBI double to left center field that scored Wells and Baynes. 
IN THE CIRCLE
  • Avery Dickerson tossed the first four innings and allowed six runs on seven hits. She struck a pair of batters out and walked five. 
  • Alanna Goble (W, 5-2) earned the win in relief working three frames and allowed two runs on four hits. She struck three batters out and faced 15.
