THIS WEEK IN AUM ATHLETICS (FEBRUARY 5 - FEBRUARY 11)

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

  • AUM visits Lee (Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 4:30 p.m. CT) before hosting West Georgia on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. for Homecoming. 
  • The Warhawks have won six games in a row, the third-best mark in the GSC, and currently sit fourth in the GSC standings. 
  • Tian Addison averaged 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in wins over Mississippi College and Delta State.
  • Danielle Luckey also added her ninth and 10th games of the season with double-digit rebounds over the weekend.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

  • AUM visits Lee (Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. CT) before hosting West Georgia on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. for Homecoming. 
  • The Warhawks defeated Delta State on a Deven Tucker game-winning layup to make it three wins in their last four games.
  • Malachi Rhodes posted 21 points and nine rebounds in the win over Delta State, and also went for 26 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Mississippi College.

  • Behind a two-run homer from Tyrese Rooks and a 3-for-5 effort from Brendan York, AUM defeated Saint Leo 13-3 in the series finale of a three-game series to wrap up the opening weekend of the 2024 season. 
  • The win marked the first collegiate win for head coach Franklin Bush.
  • Senior outfielder Nick Freeman went 4-for-9 with four runs, two walks, and a stolen base on the weekend.
  • Grant Hickman, Try Bacon, and Brett Pitts also turned in scoreless relief appearances for AUM.

  • The Warhawk tennis teams each opened the season with a win over Middle Georgia State to get the Michael O'Brien era off to a positive start.
  • The men's team defeated the Knights 4-1, while the women's team knocked off the Knights 4-2. 
  • AUM hosts No.7 Columbus State University on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. before getting GSC play underway at 9 a.m. on Feb. 10 against Shorter in men's and women's tennis action.

  • After opening the season in the NFCA preseason Top 25 Poll, AUM went 3-1 in Gulf Shores, Alabama to open the campaign.
  • AUM collected wins over No. 5 Nova Southeastern, RV Lubbock Christian, and Spring Hill before falling to No. 18 Saint Leo.
  • Avery Dickerson fired a complete game shutout against LCU with four strikeouts, and Morgan Ferguson spun six innings of shutout softball in AUM's win over Spring Hill. Offensively, Molly Cobb, Rebecca Komers, Gia Martin, and Whitney Wells all homered on the weekend.
  • The Warhawks visit Longwood, Florida this weekend for games against Saint Anselm, Florida Tech, Rollins, and Barry.
