LONGWOOD, Fla. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team dropped the opening game of the 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championships against No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne University 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Boombah-Soldier's Creek Park.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Haley Ann Frank got awarded base-on-balls in the bottom of the first inning, and eventually stole second base. A strikeout ended the first inning.
- In the bottom of the fourth frame, Kat Fallen hit a single to the pitcher, but was thrown out at second base during the next at-bat.
- Back-to-back groundouts ended the bottom of the seventh for AUM as the two teams entered extra innings all tied at 0-0.
- Lenoir-Rhyne's Lani Warren got the ninth started with double to left field and then Cassidy Wall hit a single to advance Warren to third. Lauren Rakes came up to bat and hit a single to center field to score the only run of the game.
- AUM had an opportunity in the bottom of the ninth, but could not get any momentum and a fly out ended the game.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Alanna Goble (L, 20-4) took the loss as she tossed the complete nine-inning game and struck out nine batters. She walked one batter and gave up one run on eight hits.

The Warhawks will take on the University of Charleston out of West Virginia in an elimination game on Tuesday, May 21 at 10 a.m. (CT) at Boombah-Soldier's Creek Park.
