SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After a rain out on Monday, the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks wrapped up 18-holes at the Converse Fall Invitational. AUM finished the sole round in 9
th place as a team, their first top 10 finish of their debut season. Junior
Ashley Nelson paced the Warhawks with another impressive top five performance and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
With Monday's cancelation, only one round of 18 was played in Spartanburg, and the orange and black took full advantage of the quick competition. AUM finished in ninth place with a one-round score of 330 (+42), just six strokes behind eighth place Barton College, 324 (+36).
Belmont Abbey earned the top spot, as the team finished with a score of 309 (+21). Barton's Terra Schmitt won the individual title with an even 72 finish, the only player in the field to finish on par.
WARHAWK RESULTS
- Once again, all eyes were on Ashley Nelson for the Warhawks as she finished tied for fifth place with a score of 76 (+4). Nelson was able to crack top five for the second-straight tournament, behind four birdies and nine pars. She earned a well-deserved spot on the All-Tournament roster for her efforts.
- Kyleigh Gibson finished the day tied for 28th place as her 11 pars allowed her to finish at 81 (+9).
- Georgia Cater carded an 85 (+13) with a pair of birdies landing her tied for 50th place.
- Hailey Westmoreland's seven pars carried her to a tie for 61st with a score of 88 (+16).
- Aubrie Medford rounded out the Warhawks' scoring with a tie for 78th place and a score of 95 (+23).
