LAKELAND, Fla. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's cross country team closed out the season on Saturday morning, coming in a record-tying eighth place at the NCAA Division II South Regional Championship. The event was hosted at Holloway Park by Florida Southern University and featured all 18 teams from the region.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Caleb Yoder wrapped up a strong freshman campaign, leading the Warhawks with a time of 33:28.72 in his first career 10K, good enough for 40th place on the individual leaderboard. Teammates
Mikey Banks (33:55.58) and
Dalton Benefield (33:55.76) were neck and neck all the way through the finish, taking 48th and 49th respectively.Â

Liam Zadoorian (34:12.49) came in 53rd, while
John Mathison (34:20.65) rounded out the scoring for the Warhawks in 59
th, with both freshmen running their first career 10K.Â

The Warhawks scored 230 as a team, landing them in eighth place, tying their best regionals finish in program history.

Lee University won the event behind five of the top eight individual performances, while Colten Lee (31:22.34) of Palm Beach Atlantic picked up the individual crown.
