PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 5 Auburn University at Montgomery Softball (24-8, 15-6) won the series finale at West Florida (24-10, 15-6) on Saturday to take the series.
Both teams started the first inning with a run to even the game at one. AUM in the top of the first got the leadoff on-base and
Haley Ann Frank who would come in to score on RBI from
Chloe Baynes due to a UWF defensive error.
The Argonauts responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning on a RBI sacrifice fly.
In the third inning, AUM regained the lead with a run from
Jasmine Sneed. The Freshman from Murfreesboro started the inning with a single through the left side and came in to score on a throwing error by the UWF defense.
The Argos committed five errors defensively in today's series finale.
Rebecca Komers drove in a pair in the fourth inning, along with a RBI double by Sneed to extend AUM's lead to four.
Reese Cauley made her second start of the series for the Warhawks and held West Florida to just one run in the series finale.
Offensively, the Warhawks saw production from the bottom half of the order with
Faith Wheat, Komers and Sneed all contributing at least one hit a piece. Komers totaled two RBI and Sneed added one as well.
