TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 7 ranked AUM softball team dropped a pair of 5-0 games to No. 5 Tampa on Friday in the 2025 NCAA Division II South Super Regional at Naimoli Family Stadium.
The game three super regional loss end AUM's season at 41-13. The Warhawks won the Gulf South Conference regular-season title and reached the 40-win mark for the 10th time in program history.
AUM was playing in its fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament and is now 20-13 all-time in NCAA postseason play. They are now 5-3 in three super regionals – all coming in the last four seasons.
Tampa improves to 45-10 and advances to the NCAA Division Softball Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee next week.
Game One – Tampa 5, AUM 0
The Spartans stayed alive by scoring five runs on eight hits to force the third game in the series. Mariah Galhouse (17-2) picked up a complete-game win as she allowed six hits and three walks on the day.
Playing as the visiting team, Tampa got out in front in the top of the first, scoring a 2-out run on a Galhouse single up the middle that brought in Lilly Kiester from second. They added another run in the third with two outs on an Alexa Russo RBI double.
UT pushed two across in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. AUM had its best scoring chance in the bottom of the fourth, loading the bases with no outs. But
Faith Wheat lined out and then
Rebecca Komers was thrown out at home tagging up on an
Arianna Machado fly out to end the threat.
The Spartans scored on four walks in the fifth to close out the scoring.
Jasmine Sneed had three of AUM's six hits in the game.
Game Two – Tampa 5, AUM 0
Tampa struck first in the second game, scoring a pair on a bases loaded throwing error to second base by Komers.
The Spartans put two more on the board in the second to extend their lead to 4-0. After a pair of walks, Lauren Fantone singled to right and the ball was mishandled by
Lexie Bullock, allowing Hanna Yetter to score from second. The next run scored on a Russo sacrifice fly to left center.
They scored the final run on a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth.
Chloe Baynes had two hits for the Warhawks, who matched UT with five hits and drew six walks.
Reese Cauley (23-5) went the distance for the Warhawks and suffered the loss after walking a seven and giving up five hits.
