MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 4 Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer team (8-1-2, GSC: 5-0-2) played West Alabama to a 2-2 draw Wednesday night at the AUM Soccer Complex.
FIRST HALF
The Warhawks controlled the early possession and created several chances, with
Benjamin Hoffmann,
Malik Mawd,
Ryan Mcqueen,
Mikayil Bacar Said, and
Harrington Arnette each recording shots in the opening 21 minutes. West Alabama goalkeeper Dan Erez made two saves to keep AUM off the scoreboard.
AUM finally broke through with just 13 seconds remaining in the half.
Brennan Greer found the back of the net in the 45th minute, with
Malik Mawd and
Alan De Paula providing the assists, sending the Warhawks into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
SECOND HALF
AUM doubled its lead in the 70th minute when
Alan De Paula scored his third goal of the season.
Nathan Le Roux assisted on the goal, giving the Warhawks a 2-0 advantage.
West Alabama answered late, scoring twice in a 38-second span. Mathias Ibanez scored in the 88th minute before David Nunez followed shortly after to level the match at 2-2.
Neither team was able to find the game-winner in the final two minutes, and the match ended in a draw.
