MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team (1-2; GSC: 0-0) earned a dominant 7-0 sweep over the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers (2-3) on Friday afternoon at the AUM Tennis Complex, controlling the match from start to finish to secure the shutout victory.

"I am really proud of the way our women's team competed today. We have talked this week on the way we want to construct points, and I felt that we did a good job of accomplishing that in our match today. Great first win for the ladies, I hope we keep the momentum going."
Doubles
Auburn University at Montgomery jumped out to an early advantage by sweeping doubles play, clinching the opening point in straight-set fashion. At the No. 1 doubles position, Melissa Yakup Pour and Nagisa Yonezawa were the first off the court, earning a decisive 6-1 victory over Ayawavi Vania Dotse and Taylor Ford.
Shortly after, the No. 2 duo of Mercedes Garcia Cid and Allison Blanco followed with a 6-3 win, extending the Warhawks' momentum. Doubles play concluded at the No. 3 spot where Sofia Neri and Ana Clara Campigotto secured the doubles sweep with a 6-1 win over Asia McRae and Dayna Jackson.
Singles
The Warhawks carried its momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets to secure the 7-0 sweep. The first singles result came at the No. 2 position, where Garcia Cid opened singles play with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory over Adjowa-Sika Serena Pascaline.
Soon after, Yakup Pour followed at the No. 1 spot, earning a 6-2, 6-3 win against Vania Dotse to continue pushing the Warhawks ahead. At the No. 5 position, Campigotto added another point with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory. The No. 4 singles match wrapped up next, as Blanco defeated Tuskegee's Ford 6-4, 6-2, continuing AUM's strong showing across the courts.
Making her season debut, Valeria Garcia Chavez shined in her first match of the year, earning a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 6 position.
Singles play concluded at No. 3, where Yonezawa capped off the sweep with a hard-fought 7-6, 7-6 victory, closing out the match in dominant fashion for the Warhawks.
