Sneed Goes Yard Twice as Warhawks Sweep Doubleheader at Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -  Auburn University at Montgomery softball (21-4; GSC: 7-4) completed a strong day on the road Saturday, sweeping a Gulf South Conference doubleheader against the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers (5-17-1) with 7–5 victories in both games.

COACH WILKES LANEY'S COMMENTS
"We did a good job at manufacturing runs today. We used bunts, sacrifice flies, base hits, and home runs. Our defense and pitching staff did a good job at keeping us in the game. We had two good team wins today, and we look forward to Game Three tomorrow."

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One; AUM 7; CBU 5

Auburn University at Montgomery struck quickly in the top of the first inning, plating three runs to take an early lead. Chloe Baynes opened the game with a single before Gabbi Barnowsky was hit by a pitch to put two runners aboard. After a sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position, Reese Cauley reached base and two runs came home. Gracie Suggs followed with an RBI single to right center, extending the Warhawks' advantage to 3–0.

Christian Brothers responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning. A leadoff walk and single set up a sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 3–1.

The Warhawks added another run in the fourth inning after Olivia Watkins tripled down the right-field line. Karris Rhine followed with a groundout that scored Watkins, pushing the lead to 4–1.

The Buccaneers answered in the bottom of the fourth when first baseman Mackenzie Gieseler led off the inning with a solo home run to trim the lead in half at 4–2.
