MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team (37-7; GSC: 20-7) secured a 3-1 victory over Delta State (12-32; GSC: 6-21) on Saturday afternoon at the AUM Softball Complex, closing out its final home series of the season on Senior Day. With the win, the Warhawks completed the series sweep over the Lady Statesmen.

"It was a great weekend for AUM Softball. So glad we had the chance to celebrate our seniors, and end the regular season home games with wins. Sydni, Becca, Gracie, and Coco have invested a lot into this program, and I'm so thankful this weekend was filled with joy and success for them."
HOW IT HAPPENED
AUM set the tone early in the series finale as center fielder Chloe Baynes led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and moved to third on a flyout before Olivia Watkins delivered an RBI double to left field to give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead.
The Warhawks continued to apply pressure in the third inning, again sparked by Baynes at the top of the lineup. After reaching on a her second single of the day, Baynes stole second and advanced to third on a groundout. Rebecca Komers ripped a triple to right center to bring Baynes home and extend the advantage to 2-0.
The Delta State Lady Statesmen broke through in the fifth inning, taking advantage of an AUM error before an RBI double plated an unearned run to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Warhawks responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning, as Baynes delivered her third single of the afternoon. After reaching on a single, she stole second and third to move into scoring position before Gabbi Barnowsky lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing Baynes home for the third time of the game.
AUM closed the door over the final two innings, retiring six of the last seven batters faced, including a clean seventh inning to seal the 3-1 victory and complete the weekend sweep over Delta State in the final home series of the season.
Notables
Senior Chloe Baynes sparked the offense going 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and scoring all 3 of AUM's runs.
Baynes accounted for three of the four stolen bases, and Karris Rhine swiped second in the fourth.
Olivia Watkins finished 1-for-3 with a double to help score one of the runs.
Rebecca Komers added a clutch RBI triple in the third, scoring AUM's second run of the game.
Gabbi Barnowsky contributed a sacrifice fly RBI in the fifth to push across a run.
Senior Sydni Free threw a complete game in the circle, allowing just 1 unearned run on 4 hits with 2 strikeouts to secure the win, improving to 6-1 on the season.
AUM had seven hits, while DSU was limited to four.
Delta State left six on base, and the Warhawks left three.
