AUM Softball Enters Week Nine at No. 6 in National Poll

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its Week Nine edition of the NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll on Tuesday, with the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks softball team landing in sixth. AUM continues to rank among the nation's elite programs, marking its ninth consecutive week inside the top 10.

Warhawks Roll On
The orange and black faced the Valdosta State Blazers in a three-game Gulf South Conference series last week, securing the series victory with wins in two of three contests. AUM opened the series with an 8–3 victory in game one, plating five runs in the fifth inning to break things open. Reese Cauley tossed a complete game in the circle and went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, while Chloe Baynes added a triple in the seventh inning. Rebecca Komers recorded a pair of doubles as the Warhawks tallied 10 hits and limited Valdosta State to just six.

In game two, the Warhawks fell 9–1 in five innings, with Cauley providing the lone run on a solo home run in the fourth inning.

AUM bounced back in the finale with a 12–5 victory to clinch the series and secure its 30th win of the season. Cauley tossed another complete game, allowing four earned runs on four hits, while Chloe Baynes tied the program record for hits in a single game after going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three stolen bases. Baynes also delivered a highlight-reel moment, robbing a would-be two-run home run with the game tied at 3-3. Rebecca Komers and Olivia Watkins each added a home run, while Ansley Watson went 3-for-3 at the plate and Kennedy Sevcik contributed a double.

Circle Commanders
AUM's pitching staff had a busy weekend, combining for a 5.73 ERA over 18.1 innings across the three-game series against the Blazers. The Warhawks allowed 15 earned runs on 18 hits while holding Valdosta State batters to a .250 average, recording eight strikeouts and 12 walks. Reese Cauley led the way, improving to 19-1 with two complete games last week. She tossed 14.0 innings across games one and three against Valdosta State, compiling a 3.50 ERA while allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits. Cauley struck out five batters and held opponents to a .200 batting average, continuing her dominant run in the circle. The bullpen provided key support in relief, helping the Warhawks secure two series wins.

Swinging Strong
The Warhawks offense continued its hot streak, posting a .333 team batting average with 28 hits and 21 runs over the three-game series. Chloe Baynes led the charge, hitting .600 with six hits, five runs, three walks, and two RBI, including a triple in the series-clinching finale. Reese Cauley contributed a .556 batting average with five hits, three RBI, and a solo homer in game two. Olivia Watkins and Rebecca Komers also powered the lineup, each adding a homer to help AUM plate 12 runs in the finale. The balanced attack from AUM's lineup fueled the Warhawks to a series win over Valdosta State.
