Auburn University at Montgomery Athletics

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 7 Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's soccer team (7-1, GSC: 4-0) took down the University of Montevallo Falcons (1-3-3, GSC: 1-1-2) 2-1, behind a pair of second half goals on Wednesday night at Varsity Field.

COACH THORNE'S COMMENTS
"Fantastic GSC night. We didn't start the game off the way we had hoped. Sometimes in these games, when we aren't playing as well as our potential, you just find a way to fight and scrap and get back in the game. Those wins in the GSC, especially on the road, just show what these lads are made of."
 
"It wasn't the cleanest win, but the lads showed character there at the end. They just kept going and kept going. I'm absolutely so proud of these boys. Now, we recover, and we go again Saturday." 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half

The Falcons wasted no time getting its crowd on their feet as Nolan Peffer found the back of the net in the 13th minute to give Montevallo an early 1-0 advantage.
 

The first half ended with Peffer's goal as Montevallo's only shot of the opening 45 minutes, while AUM recorded three shots but was unable to get on the board before halftime.

Second Half
The Falcons took the first two shots of the second half, with Jakob Buhrkuhl making a save on one while the other went off target.

An orange and black corner kick set up Luke Butcher's equalizer in the 57th minute, leveling the match at 1-1.

With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Harrington Arnette sniped the top-right corner of the goal to put the Warhawks ahead for the first time on the night.

AUM closed out the night with a 2-1 victory to remain undefeated in GSC play.
