Biography
2023: Part of an AUM squad that made two appearances in USTFCCCA’s weekly South Region rankings…ran in three races for the black and orange… ran the fastest 4K time of her career at the JSU Foothills Invite (17:53.8)…ran a season-best 5K time of 22:20.8 at the Southern Showcase at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.
2022: Did not race for the Warhawks, who finished fourth-place finish at the GSC Championships, the highest-ever finish for the squad since becoming an NCAA Division II member.
2021: Was named to the Gulf South Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll…competed in all six meets for the Warhawks…finished ninth with a 5K time of 20:57.10 to help lead the Warhawks to a first-place team finish at the Falcon Classic on Sept. 17…logged a season-best 5K time of 19:52.70 at the Live in Lou Classic on Oct. 2…capped the year by posting the 10th-best 6K time in program history (24:58.60) at the NCAA South Regionals on Nov. 6.
PRIOR TO AUM: Was a two-year letter winner in cross country and track and field at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, N.M.…helped lead the Thunderbirds to a 2019 runner-up finish at the NJCAA championship meet while earning All-American honors, in addition to being a member of the 2020 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Team…additionally earned 2019-20 Academic All-American honors, 2019 and 2020 WJCAC All-Academic honors, and notched All-American honors in the distance medley relay in indoor track and field and the 4x800 in outdoor track and field.
PREP: Attended St. Joseph’s Girls Secondary School Kipsaina in Eldoret, Kenya.
PERSONAL: Full name is Gladys Jelimo Koech…daughter of John Koech and Leah Salil...has two sisters, Sharon and Caren…is majoring in nursing.
