Biography

2023: Helped lead AUM to a fifth-place team finish at the GSC Championships…part of a squad that made six appearances in USTFCCCA’s weekly South Region rankings and finished the year ranked No. 8 in the region…also helped lead AUM to its highest-ever finish at the NCAA South Region Championships (8th)…raced in all six competitions for the black and orange…ran his best collegiate 8K at the Southern Showcase (26:58.3)…broke the 27-minute mark again at the GSC Championships with an 8K time of 26:58.5).

2022: Raced four times for the Warhawks, including helping the team to a third-place finish overall at the University of North Alabama Invitational...named to the GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll...ran a collegiate-best 8K time of 27:27.4 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Division II Festival Year Showcase at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala....also ran a 27:57 at the Queens University of Charlotte Royals Challenge.

2021: Was named to the Gulf South Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll…ran in three meets for AUM…made his collegiate debut with a four-mile time of 22:39.20 at the CBU Memphis Twilight on Sept. 4…finished a season-high 21st at the Falcon Classic on Sept. 17 while posting a season-best 8K time of 28:13.70 at the Charger Invite on Oct. 9.

PREP: Lettered for six seasons in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School in Montgomery, Ala.…was named to the all-state team from 2018-2020 while also earning all-metro honors in 2019 and 2020…helped lead the Knights to a 4A cross country state championship in 2018…posted a personal-record time of 16:39 in the 5K.
 
PERSONAL: Full name is Samuel James Leslie…was born on Sept. 19, 2002…is the son of Fred and Lucy Leslie…has two sisters, Sarah and Grace…his sister, Grace, was a member of the AUM women’s cross country team from 2019-2020.
