Warhawks Beat the Badgers at Home

MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- The AUM women's soccer team beat Spring Hill College on Wednesday afternoon with a final score of 3-2.
 
NOTES
• AUM improved to 6-5-1, while Spring Hill fell to 0-9-3.  
• Senior Amy Glynn scored her first career goal in the first half of the match.
• Freshman Ruby Mendez added her ninth goal of the season.  

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• In addition to her first career goal, Glynn tallied an assist on the goal by Mendez.
• Mendez tallied another shot on goal in addition to her goal and also registered an assist on the goal by Glynn.
• Freshman Chelsie China added a goal on two shots in the match.
• Megan Kowalski, Agnes Edlund and Sabrina Knight each got in on the action by recording one shot on goal each.
• Junior keeper Morgan Glenn had five saves in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM struck first in the 27th minute when Amy Glynn put the ball in the back of the net off of a cross by Mendez.
• In the 43rd minute, China laced a volley into the upper left corner of the goal for her third goal of the season.
• The Warhawks kicked off the second half of the match by extending their lead to 3-0 on the goal by Mendez in the 47th minute.
• The Badgers struck back in the 67th minute of the match when a shot deflected off an AUM defender and into the back of the net.
• In the 72nd minute, Spring Hill edged closer when a free kick from distance found its way into the back of the net off the right upright.  
• Ultimately, the Warhawks were able to escape with the victory with a final tally of 3-2.  


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 15 shots, and put seven on frame while Spring Hill finished with 12 shots and seven on frame.
• The Warhwks led the Badgers in corner kicks 13-3.  
• AUM also led Spring Hill in saves with a final count of 5-4.
 
UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action on Friday, Oct. 14, when they play host to the University of West Florida.  Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
