Late Goal Lifts Union Over Women’s Soccer

JACKSON, Tenn. ----- The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team dropped a match to Union University on the road Wednesday evening with a final tally of 1-0.
 
NOTES
• AUM fell to 7-7-1, while the Bulldogs improved to 6-4-5.  

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior goalkeeper Morgan Glenn saved a season-high eight shots on goal.
Agnes Edlund tallied two shots with one being on target.
• In her first game since Oct. 12, freshman Ruby Mendez recorded a shot on goal in her return.
Mandeville Wakefield, Allison Singleterry and Stella Mazzillo each added a shot for the Warhawks.
• Kelsey Wilkes provided three shots on target for Union with one of them being the lone goal of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the 20', Union had their first real chance of the night saved by Glenn.
• Three more shots on target were put to rest by AUM goalkeeping, playing to the halfway point knotted at 0-0.
• After 32 more minutes of scoreless play, the Bulldogs finally broke the scoreless tie in the 78' when Wilkes put a shot in the lower right corner.
• In the 86', the Warhawks saw their final chance of the night go by the wayside when Mendez put a shot left-footed just wide of the goal.
• Union defeated AUM with a final score of 1-0.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Union outshot Auburn Montgomery 18-7.
• The Warhawks and the Bulldogs each recorded four corner kicks in the match.  
• AUM goalkeeping recorded eight saves while Union registered two.

UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action on Sunday, November 6, 2016 when they travel to Spring Hill College for their final match of the season.  Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m. in Mobile, Ala.
