LEBANON, Tenn. ----- The AUM women's soccer team lost to Cumberland University on the road Saturday afternoon with a final tally of 3-2.
NOTES
• AUM fell to 5-5-1, while Cumberland improved to 9-1-1.
• Going in to the match, Cumberland was ranked 14
th in the nation in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.
• Sophomore
Agnes Edlund scored her first goal of the season.
• Freshman
Ruby Mendez notched another goal, extending her team lead in goals to eight.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Mendez managed two shots with one hitting the back of the net.
• In addition to her goal, Edlund also had two shots in the match.
• Freshman
Chelsie China led AUM in shots and shots in goal, recording three and two respectively.

Megan Kowalski and
Allison Singleterry both managed a shot in the match..
• Emily Shires scored two goals and Dayle Weslosky knocked in a penalty kick for Cumberland.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM broke the scoreless tie late in the 25
th minute when Mendez knocked her eighth goal of the season into an empty net.
• The Warhawks held the lead for approximately two and a half minutes until Cumberland equalized the match on a goal by Shires.
• At the end of the first half, Shires found the back of the net for the second time after she rebounded a shot off the crossbar.
• Auburn Montgomery fell into a 3-1 hole in the 63
rd minute when they surrendered a penalty kick goal to the Phoenix.
• After coming on in the 63
rd minute, Edlund put in a shot from 25 yards out to bring the Warhawks within one in the 83
rd.
• Ultimately, AUM fell short in their comeback attempt to 14
th-ranked Cumberland, 3-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with nine shots, and put four on frame. Cumberland ended the game with 12 shots, and put six on frame.
• AUM trailed Cumberland in corner kicks 3-1.
• Cumberland picked up two saves in the match, while AUM added three.

• The Warhawks will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 12, when they host Spring Hill College. Kick-off is slated for 4:30 p.m.
