MONTGOMERY, Ala. ------ Four players scored in double figures, led by freshman
Darrion Taylor's game-high 22 points, to lead the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team past Georgia Southwestern, 88-63, for the first NCAA Division II victory in the program's history.
NOTES
• The Warhawks improved to 1-6 on the season and earned their first victory as a NCAA Division II member.
• Georgia Southwestern fell to 1-4 on the year.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Taylor converted 8-of-11 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from distance, to set a new career high. He added a rebound, an assist and two steals in the victory.
•
Desmond DeRamus finished with 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
•
Julius McCoy scored 15 points, hitting 4-of-5 from behind the arc, while adding two assists and a rebound.
•
Romoane Eager posted 12 points and seven rebounds.
•
Kameron Hornbuckle came off the bench to score seven points and pull down nine rebounds, four of which were offensive.

Jarvis Johnson scored six points in nine minutes of play, while
Marcus Jackson scored a season-high four points in 12 minutes.
• Devin Watson (13), Corbyn Jackson (12), Cameron Dozier (12) and Brandon Price (10) scored in double figures for the Hurricanes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM scored the first five points of the game, two on an Eager basket and three on a Taylor trey, but trailed 14-12 following a pair of Dozier free throws with 12:20 remaining in the first half.
• The Warhawks took control of the game with an 11-0 run during the next five minutes and never surrendered the lead. McCoy hit a pair of 3-pointers during the spurt.
• The Hurricanes cut the lead to six points, 27-21, on a trey by Price, but AUM closed the half with a 12-2 run, capped by a McCoy three with 1:01 left to play. The Warhawks led 39-23 at halftime.
• Eager upped the advantage to 20 points, 47-27, with a jumper with 16:24 remaining in the contest.
• Georgia Southwestern climbed to within 15 points, 51-36, on a Watson bucket, but AUM answered with a 10-2 run capped by a Hornbuckle tip-in. The Warhawks led 61-38 with 10:01 to play.
• The Hurricanes were never closer than 18 points down the stretch, while a Taylor jumper with six seconds remaining gave AUM its largest lead and provided the final margin of 88-63.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks converted a season-high 53 percent of their shots, hitting 35-of-66 from the field. AUM hit 9-of-19 shots from 3-point range, but just 9-of-18 from the charity stripe.
• The Hurricanes converted 18-of-50 shots from the floor, including 6-of-17 from distance. GSW also hit 21-of-24 free throw attempts.
• AUM dominated Georgia Southwestern on the boards, holding a 45-23 advantage on the glass, including a 12-0 advantage on the offensive end. The Warhawks converted 18 second-chance points.
• The Warhawks converted 26 points off of 15 turnovers by the Hurricanes. AUM committed 16 miscues of its own.
• The Warhawks held a 48-22 advantage on scoring in the paint.
