SIOUX CITY, IOWA ------ The No. 2 ranked and No. 2 seeded Auburn Montgomery softball team plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat No. 3 ranked and No. 3 seeded Saint Gregory's University in the 36th annual NAIA Softball World Series 3-2 Tuesday afternoon.

• The Cavaliers finished the season 48-7.
• Sophomore's Hayden Henderson and Rose Schmidt both provided RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth to give the Warhawks the elimination game victory.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Henderson continued to hit well at the World Series, and finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. She is batting 4-for-8 in Sioux City.
• Schmidt finished with a game-high two RBIs on her single to center, and picked up her second walk-off single of the season. The first coming on April 20 in a 4-3 win over Georgia Gwinnett in game two.
• Senior Taylor Powell tied the school record for wins in a season at 35, and has posted a 35-4 record this season. Former NAIA All-American Cassie Jones set the mark last season. Powell picked up three strikeouts in her appearance this afternoon, and her 28th complete game.
• Jessica Nelson led the way for St. Gregory's with a 2-for-3 performance on a two-RBI triple.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Neither team was able to score in the first three innings of play, but Powell stranded four Cavaliers on base.
• St. Gregory's struck first in the top of the fourth on a two out triple from Nelson to right-center, which plated Knox and Cruz to give the Cavaliers a 2-0 lead.
• AUM was unable to respond in the fourth and fifth, but got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs, Dishman and Hale picked up walks, before Henderson's second hit of the day allowed Dishman to score.
• Schmidt was hit-less on the day, but scorched a single to center past the outstretched glove of Plott to give the Warhawks a 3-2 lead as Henderson and Ragland both came around to score.
• St. Gregory's picked up a lead-off single in the top of the seventh, but Powell responded with a strikeout. A single and fly ball to Ragland put runners on the corners with two outs. A ground ball to Jenkins was thrown to Dishman in time to secure the final out, and advance the Warhawks further in the World Series on a 3-2 comeback victory.
