Women’s Soccer To Host Lee And Shorter This Weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team will host Gulf South Conference foes #23 Lee University and Shorter University on Friday and Sunday, respectively, as the Warhawks will look to get back to their winning ways at the AUM Soccer Complex.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks had their three-game win streak snapped against Christian Brothers last Friday evening on the road, dropping subsequent games against Union and Valdosta State to fall to 4-7 on the season overall and 3-5 in conference matches.
 
This will be the first meeting between AUM and Lee since the 2012 season, a 2-0 victory for the Flames. AUM defeated Shorter last season 2-0 at the AUM Soccer Complex. Chelsie China and Ruby Mendez recorded the two goals in the victory over the Hawks.
 
Mendez is fifth in the GSC in points with 17 and is tied for sixth in goals with seven, leading the Warhawks in both categories. She's also tallied 37 shots (18 on goal) and three assists on the year.
 
Stine Svaerke is second on the team in goals with three and points with seven.
 
About the Flames
Lee is currently third in the GSC standings with a league record of 7-2 and an overall mark of 8-4. The Flames are also currently ranked No. 23 in the nation, one of two GSC schools ranked in the top 25 (#14 Mississippi College).
 
Summer Lanter leads the team in points with 18, having recorded eight goals and two assists this season. Devin Healy is second on the team in goals with four while McKenzie Bricker leads the team in assists with four.
 
The Flames are 4-1 over their last five games and are coming off of a 3-2 victory over GSC foe West Florida on Saturday. Lanter scored the equalizer and the game winner for Lee, scoring in the 24th and 61st minutes.
 
About the Hawks
Shorter is currently 1-9-1 on the season with a 0-8 mark in the GSC. The Hawks have lost eight in a row, with their last game being a 3-0 setback to Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon at home.
 
Taylor Hendrix leads the team in goals with four and points with nine. No other Hawk has more than one goal.
 
The Hawks will play GSC opponent Montevallo on Friday before traveling to Montgomery to take on the Warhawks.
 
Up Next
The Warhawks will travel to Delta State University on Friday, Oct. 20, to take on the Lady Statesmen at Delta Field. The game will be the first of a two-game road trip, as AUM will take on #14 Mississippi College on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. on the campus of the Choctaws.
