#23 Lee Downs AUM 2-0

MONTGOMERY Ala. ----- The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team fell at home to #23 Lee University, 2-0, in a hard-fought Gulf South Conference match Friday evening.  
 
NOTES
• AUM falls to 4-8 with a 3-6 record in conference play, while Lee improves to 9-4 with an 8-2 record in the GSC.
• Felecia Wester and Morgan Glenn split time in goal for AUM. Wester played the first half for the Warhawks while Glenn finished the second half.
• Riley Engels recorded the first goal of the game off an own goal off an AUM defender in the 3rd minute.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Melissa Fernandez led the Warhawks in shots for the second consecutive match, Fernandez tallied two shots during the match.
• Lee forward Riley Engels recorded her third and fourth goal of the season for the Flames in the 4th and 75th minute.
•Flames keeper Taylor Green stopped the only shot on goal for Lee in the shutout effort.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Lee got on the board early on in the first half on an own goal off the head of Ariel Jones. Lee's Riley Engels was credited with her third goal of the season on the play.  
• The Flames dominated play in the first half, outshooting the Warhawks 9-2.  
Melissa Fernandez tallied both of the shots for AUM in the first half.
• The start of the second half saw back and forth action between the two squads with no team able to get any sustained possession in the opponents third of the pitch.   
• Lee put the game on ice in the 75th minute when Riley Engels found the back of the net for the second time when she buried her shot past the AUM keeper.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 4 shots, and 1 was put on target. Lee finished the game with 25 shots with 10 on frame.
• Lee led AUM in corner kicks 9-1.  
• The Flames recorded one saves while the Warhawks picked up eight.

STAT OF THE GAME
• Felecia Wester saw action both as a keeper and in the midfield for the Warhawks in the loss to Lee.

UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will be back in action Sunday October 15 when they play host to GSC foe Shorter University. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
