Men’s Soccer Falls At Delta State, 4-1

CLEVELAND, Miss. – Sophomore forward Tiuri Schieving picked up his third goal in the past two games but Auburn Montgomery could not overcome Gulf South Conference foe Delta State University on Friday afternoon, falling 4-1 to the Statesman at Delta Field in men's soccer action.
 
NOTES
• AUM falls to 1-14 on the season, with a 1-7 mark in the GSC.
• DSU improves to 3-11-1 on the year, and 1-9 in league play.
• The victory for the Statesmen was the first conference victory of the season.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• AUM's Schieving scored his fourth goal of the season in the contest.
• Freshman Austin Sun Chee Fore picked up an assist in his return to action.
• DSU's Jake Carragher tallied a goal and an assist.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• DSU's Myron Duffy scored his second goal of the season in the 25th minute, putting a header in off of a cross by Paul Simier to take a 1-0 lead.
• Statesman Ashley Walker notched his second goal of the season, putting in a header in off of a Jake Carragher corner kick in the 29th minute.
• The Statesmen made it 3-0 in the 36th minute on a Tom Bar-Yosef goal, taking a cross from Peyton Marter and finishing in the left of the net.
• Schieving pounded a cross from Sun Chee Fore over the keepers head to put the Warhawks on the board in the 57th minute.
• Carragher picked up his first goal of the season in the 59th minute to give the Statesmen a 4-1 lead.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
• DSU recorded 28 shots (nine on goal) while AUM recorded six (four on goal).
• The Statesmen tallied 12 corner kicks with the Warhawks taking three.
• AUM's Alexandro Costa was issued a red card in the 34th minute, leaving the Warhawks with only 10 men for the remainder of the contest.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will travel to Clinton, Miss., on Saturday to take on Mississippi College. The game was originally scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. but was pushed up to tomorrow at 2 p.m. due to inclement weather expected in the area.
