CLINTON, Miss. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision to Gulf South Conference opponent Mississippi College on Saturday afternoon, as the Choctaws were celebrating their senior day at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
NOTES
• AUM falls to 1-15 on the season, with a 1-8 mark in the GSC.
• The Choctaws, who are receiving votes in the NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, improve to 10-2-3 overall and 7-2-2 in league play.
• The game was originally supposed to be played on Sunday but was moved to today to avoid inclement weather.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• AUM's
Christian Young notched two shots (one on goal) in the contest.
• MC's Jacob Farthing and Victor Bazan each tallied a goal and an assist, with fellow Choctaw Horacio Guetierrez, Jr., recording two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Choctaws took a 2-0 lead into the break off of goals by Marco Profumo and Connor Johnson in the 11
th and 34
th minutes, respectively.
• MC's Abel Perez scored just over a minute into the second half, taking a pass Bazan to put the Choctaws up 3-0.
• AUM's starting defender
Caleb Fargarson was issued a red card in the 54
th minute, leaving the Warhawks with only 10 men to try to launch the comeback.
• Farthing picked up his fifth goal of the season in the 62
nd minute, scoring off of a blocked shot to put MC up 4-0.
• Bazan got his fifth goal of the season minutes later, scoring to give the Choctaws a 5-0 lead in the 67
th minute.
• Dominic Snee made the score 6-0 in the 85
th minute, picking up his second goal of the season.
