Volleyball Takes On Montevallo And Spring Hill In Saturday Tri-Match

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team treks to Montevallo, Ala., on Saturday, Oct. 21 for a tri-match hosted by the University of Montevallo. Along with the host Falcons, AUM will also take on Spring Hill College.

About the Warhawks
AUM (8-12, 1-8 GSC) heads into the weekend tri-match following a 3-0 loss at Shorter on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The Warhawks average 9.8 kills per set on a .150 hitting percentage with 13.3 digs, 9.0 assists, 1.3 service aces and 1.3 blocks.
 
Freshman outside hitter Skylar Coppinger leads the offense with 2.26 kills, followed by junior middle blocker Brianna Garvin who averages 2.22 terminations on a team-best .309 hitting percentage while boasting a team-high 0.80 blocks. Coppinger and Garvin get their feeds from junior setter Carly Smart, who dishes out 7.38 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Haley Toler anchors the defense with 3.56 digs.
 
About the Falcons
Montevallo (9-10, 4-5 GSC) hosts Lee University before the tri-match on Friday, Oct. 20. Prior to Friday's match, the Falcons lead the Gulf South Conference with 1.9 service aces per set while averaging 12.1 kills on a .192 hitting percentage with 15.8 digs, 11.3 assists and 2.1 blocks.
 
Kristy Bohan leads four Falcons that average over 2.0 kills per set with 2.72 and boasts a team-best 0.94 blocks. Harley Masoner and Liz Tisch share the setter role with averages of 6.44 and 6.31, respectively while Michaela Henderson averages 4.14 digs to pace Montevallo on defense.
 
About the Badgers
Spring Hill College (23-3, 17-0 SIAC) goes into the tri-match riding a seven-match winning streak, most recently besting besting Southern University at New Orleans in straight sets. The Badgers boast one of the top defenses in the country, holding opponents to the fourth-lowest hitting percentage in Division II at 0.09 versus a .275 clip that ranks 11th nationally with a 2.2 service ace per set rate that ranks fifth in D2 while averaging 14.9 digs, 12.5 kills, 11.5 assists and 1.7 blocks.
 
The Badgers offense runs through Allison Weimer who leads the team with 2.72 kills per set on an accurate .318 clip. Emmarose Neibert paces a two-setter attack with 6.04 assists while Randi De'Armit serves 0.69 aces and leads the country with 57 total aces. Defensively, Cassidi Sterrett leads SHC with 4.39 digs while Morgan Eiland contributes a team-best 0.69 blocks.
