MONTGOMERY Ala.– After giving up an early goal in a contest against Gulf South Conference rival Montevallo the Warhawks of Auburn Montgomery attempted a furious comeback that fell just short on Thursday evening at the AUM Soccer complex, as the Falcons picked up the 1-0 victory in women's soccer action.

Ruby Mendez recorded a team leading five shots for the Warhawks in the match.
• Montevallo forward Allye Darnell tallied her sixth goal of the season in the 20
th minute.
• Falcons goalie Sydney Young stopped two shots in the shutout performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first 15 minutes of the game saw back and forth action as both sides were fighting to break through the opposing back lines.
• Montevallo broke through in the 20
th minute when Darnell took a cross from teammate Taylor Gonzalez and then deposited the ball into the open net to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
• AUM came close to tying the game before halftime when
Ariel Jones' shot from 25 yards out hit the post to keep the game at 1-0.
• The Falcons came out of halftime strong as they were able to mount a sustained attack against the Warhawk back line but were unable to break through.
• The Warhawks kept pressure on the Falcon defense for the majority of the second half as they had the majority of possession and scoring chances.
• Montevallo was able to hold off the Warhawk attack in the final 10 minutes of the match despite a furious onslaught by AUM.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 11 shots, with two on target. Montevallo registered 10 shots with seven on target.
• Montevallo led AUM in corner kicks 6-4.
• The Falcons recorded two saves while the Warhawks picked up six.

• Mendez has now registered five or more shots in eight games this year for the Warhawks.

• The Warhawks will travel to Pensacola, Fla., on Saturday to take on GSC foe West Florida at 3 p.m. This will be the final road game of the season for AUM before returning home for senior day on November 4
th against Albany State.
