Volleyball Hosts Christian Brothers Friday, Union Saturday

MONTGOMERY, Ala.
– The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team wraps up a three-match homestand this weekend with Gulf South Conference matches against Christian Brothers and Union. The Warhawks hosts CBU on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. with Union on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

About the Warhawks
AUM (9-14, 1-9 GSC) heads into the weekend slate following a 3-0 victory against Albany State on Tuesday, Oct. 24. The Warhawks average 9.7 kills on a .148 hitting percentage with 13.3 digs, 9.0 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.3 service aces.
 
Freshman outside hitter Skylar Coppinger leads the offense with 2.16 kills, followed by junior middle blocker Brianna Garvin who averages 2.12 terminations on a team-best .298 hitting percentage with a team-high 0.82 blocks. Coppinger and Garvin get their feeds from junior setter Carly Smart, who dishes out 7.29 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Haley Toler anchors the back line with 3.42 digs.
 
About the Bucs
Christian Brothers (13-15, 5-6 GSC) also goes into Friday's match after a midweek triumph, besting Lyon 3-2. The Bucs average 11.4 kills on a .164 hitting percentage with 15.1 digs, 10.6 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.6 service aces.
 
CBU's offense runs through Emma Lenoir, who average 3.71 kills per set and 0.40 service aces while Alexa Henderson orchestrates the attack with 8.72 assists. Defensively, Blythe Clausen boasts 4.24 digs with Mary Kathryn Miller leading the Bucs with 0.80 blocks.  
 
About the Bulldogs
Union University (12-14, 2-9 GSC) treks to Montgomery riding a five-match skid, most recently falling to Alabama in Huntsville 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 21. The Bulldogs average 12.0 kills on .213 hitting percentage with 14.2 digs, 11.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 service aces.
 
Katie O'Malley leads four Bulldogs that average over 2.00 kills per set with 2.81, with the four getting their feeds from Bre Carlton who dishes out 8.19 assists. On defense, Kristen Bukowsky boasts 1.00 blocks per set with Taylor Chiaro contributing a team-high 3.31 digs.
