Women’s Soccer Set To Face Bucs And Bulldogs This Weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team will hit the road this weekend, taking on Gulf South Conference foes Christian Brothers University on Friday evening, before finishing the week at Union University on Sunday afternoon.

About the Warhawks
AUM comes into the contest against CBU with an overall record of 4-4, with a 3-2 mark in the GSC. The Warhawks are coming off of a pair of 3-1 victories, defeating West Alabama on Sept. 29 and Alabama in Huntsville on Oct. 1. AUM has won three in a row heading into the contest.
 
Sophomore forward Ruby Mendez scored five of AUM's six goals on the week, posting two goals against UWA before earning the hat trick on Sunday against UAH. She has amassed 17 points on the season, with seven goals and three assists. Mendez leads the GSC in points and is second in the league in goals scored.
 
Felicia Wester has started seven games in goal for the Warhawks, tallying 39 saves on the season. Fabiana Alborghetti, Allison Singleterry, Allison McCrimon, Michaela Dahlin and Trinity Prater have started every game this season for the Warhawks.
 
This will be the first the meeting between the Warhawks and the Bucs, and the second match overall between AUM and Union. The Bulldogs earned a 1-0 victory over AUM last season.
 
About the Bucs
CBU is currently fourth in the GSC standings, with an overall record of 7-3 and a 5-2 mark in league play. The Bucs have won 6-of-7 contests, with the lone defeat coming at the hands of #22 Mississippi College. In their last contest the Bucs earned a 4-0 victory over Mississippi Delta.
 
Bailey Tadlock leads CBU in points with 12 on the year, having scored four goals and recorded four assists. She's taken 44 shots on the year, including 21 shots on goal.
 
Riley Chafin (3-2) and Autumn Woods (4-1) have split time at keeper, with Woods leading the team in saves (23).
 
About the Bulldogs
 
Union sits in 10th place in the league, with a 2-5 league mark and a 2-6 overall record. The Bulldogs have lost three in a row, dropping their last contest to #22 Mississippi College 6-1 this past Sunday.
 
Shelby High and Olivia Schmitke lead the team offensively, with a pair of goals and one assist each. Victoria Lucido and Madison Studstill are right behind them in points, with Lucido earning a pair of goals and Studstill earning a goal and two assists.
 
Union will play Montevallo on Friday evening before hosting AUM on Sunday afternoon.

The Warhawks will host Lee University on Friday, Oct. 13, for their next contest, a doubleheader with the two men's programs. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at the AUM Soccer Complex.
