MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Having already scored 23 points in a contest against Alabama State on Friday evening, junior guard
Desmond DeRamus had the opportunity to tie the game and force overtime with three seconds remaining, but a 3-point attempt fell just short as the Hornets survived an exhibition contest with Auburn Montgomery, 76-73, on Friday evening at the ASU Acadome.
NOTES
• Game is an exhibition between the two schools, and does not count towards either team's record.
• The game was the second exhibition game of the season for the Hornets, who defeated Fort Valley State, 68-62, on Oct. 30.
• Tonight marked the second time in as many years that the cross-town opponents have played an exhibition contest, with the Hornets earning a 56-50 victory in the contest last season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• AUM's DeRamus picked up where he left off last season, leading the team in points with 23 on 8-of-12 shooting. Tonight marked his ninth consecutive game scoring in double figures.
• Senior guard
Reagan Eubanks netted 12 for the Warhawks in his first action since the 2015-16 season. He also led the team in rebounds with six.

Chandler Ferguson,
Kameron Hornbuckle and
Kenneth Keith each scored eight points for the Warhawks.
• ASU's Terrance LeFlore and Reginald Gee each tallied a team-high 17 points in the contest.
• Branden Johnson finished one point away from a double-double for the Hornets, finishing the night with nine points and 10 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• ASU ran out to a 13-0 lead before DeRamus put the Warhawks on the board with a layup at the 16:01 mark in the first half.
• After trailing by as much as 14 in the contest, AUM pulled to within 24-19 on a Keith 3-pointer with 8:46 left to go until the half.
• AUM chipped away at the lead until Hornbuckle hit a jumper from the free-throw line just before the half ended to pull the Warhawks to within two points of the Hornets at 42-40 heading into halftime.

Antoine Pitts tied the game with 18:18 to go at 42-42 with a layup, with the two teams trading the lead back and forth the rest of the night.
• The Warhawks took their first lead on a Eubanks and-one layup at the 12:18 mark, giving AUM a 51-50 advantage.
• DeRamus put the Orange & Black up 70-66 with 5:09 remaining, but the Hornets would outscore AUM 10-3 over the final five minutes to earn the 76-73 victory
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM outscored ASU 32-24 in the paint.
• ASU scored 30 second chance points while the Warhawks tallied 12.
• The Hornets' bench outscored AUM's bench, 41-22.
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will travel Orangeburg, S.C., to take part in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/Gulf South Conference Challenge. This will be the first regular season game of the season for AUM, as they will take on host team Claflin University next Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
